Recording Session Write-up
Studio Session
I felt the studio apartment session went reasonably well; the band The Redtubes were friendly and we as a group found it easy enough to extend our views and vice versa.
The Redtubes - Band Members
* strainist Jess
* Guitars Jake and Liam
* Bass Player Chris
* bafflemer - Max
We started eat up by asking the band how they would best like to do it, we then evaluated this against what resources we had and formulated a session externalize, this worked as follows:
Takes Vocal Booth Mic.Practice Room 1Mic.
1. Vocals RhodesBass D.I. & adenine; AmpedRE20
2. Guitar 1 (Amped) AKG 414Guitar 2 (Amped) RE20
3. Guitar 1 (Dist. Amped) AKG 414Guitar 2 (Dist. Amped) RE20
4. - - - - - - (*N.B.) - - - - Drums (Full Kit Mics.) SE3/Shure
We would ordinarily support tried to record the Drums first so we would have a base to work from (unfortunately this was out of the question because the Bands drummer couldnt make it until the nearer the end of the session), luckily there was a backing track to work from so this wasnt overly much of an issue.
Once we had all agreed to go forrader with this format we then drew up a plan of action on the whiteboard, assigning all our channels and think Microphones on a visual list. That way there could be less confusion over whos doing what and also whats assigned to which channel, therefore saving time.
