OBSERVING OSMOSIS
OSMOSIS LAB REPORT
TITLE/AIM
- The aim is to investigate the collide with that time has on the mass of the subway which is modify with distilled water.
HYPOTHESIS
- If the furnish filled with distilled water is placed in a beaker filled with coarseness water for a long period of time, whence the initial mass of the tube will decrease.
VARIABLES
- Independent inconstant: Time (The tube will be weighed every 5 minutes)
- Dependent variable: plenteousness of the tube filled with distilled water.
- Controlled variables: Temperature of the surround environment, Shape of the tube, surface area.
EQUIPMENT
- Digital scale ( to weigh the tube )
- Saturated salt water ( in which the tube will be placed )
- Semi permeable membrane tube-shaped structure ( filled with distilled water )
- Distilled water ( to fill the membrane render )
- 250cm³ beaker (filled with the saturated salt water
METHOD
- Tie one end of the vacuum tube like you would with a balloon
- Fill the tubing with distilled water, but appropriate enough space so you can tie shoot the tubing like you did the first time
- Fill the 250cm³ beaker with salt water
- posterior the tied off tubing containing the distilled water into the beaker filled with salt water and start timing.
- On a separate segment of paper, record the mass every 5 minutes. (Be sure to cursorily pat dry the tubing before placing it on the digital scale to get an exact mass.
- Replace the tubing masking into the beaker and continue timing for thirty minutes. (This means that you will ca-ca to weigh the mass of the tubing 6 times end-to-end the whole experiment.
