What is a harness?
A harness is a system of a device that is fitted on the body of the working living organism. A harness has several functions. The undermentioned are some of the functions.
1. It is apply to control the working animal.
2. It is used to transfer or transmit power from the animal to the habituated implement.
3. It holds in place any load carried.
4. It helps to act as a breaking system when clout a cart.
A properly designed, well fitted and comfortable harness allows the working animal to pull the equipment to the best of its ability without risk of injuries. A bad designed or ill-fitted harness can cause ineffectual transfer of power from the animal to the implement, and fatigue, discomfort or wound to the animal. A good harness has the following characteristics.
? Transmits efficiently the pulling energy from the working animal directly to the attached equipment.
? Is smoothly-shaped, huge or padded so that the loads or forces on the animals body are spread all over a large area.
? Does non have sharp edges which could abuse the animal.
? Have joints on the outside away from the animals skin.
? Fit well so it does not cause rubbing, chaffing or wounds on the skin caused by excessive movement or friction.
? Does not impede the animals movement or natural functions such as breathing or restricts the kind supply to the tissues.
? Is affordable, durable and easy to maintain and clean.
Hitching: is the way in which the animal or animals are connected to the implement or cart that they are pulling and to other animals in the team. The animals should not be too close to or too farther from the implement.
