Steinbeck most succinctly conveys the piece of Curleys Wife to the reader through their use of language.
The extract shows Curleys Wife at her worst. Her behaviour is very threatening and out of personality for the flirtatious young woman. This is presented so much so that this passing alone presents her as quite a horrible, nasty source through her treatment of Crooks.
Although Curleys Wife is originally introduced as two a tart and a flirt through the paste workers and her description of wearing red, which has con nonations of love, lust but also as a contrast, danger, which is quite clearly presented to the reader in this extract.
