Though Cats Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut seemed reasonable like another uplifting, light, pleasurable, and pass-time choice of reading; its excogitationions were out the beaten track(predicate) more complex than that. Finding the underlying messages from this novel wasnt easy at first but after researching a bit about the authors past, his theme intentions became clearer to me. His past, particularly when he was captured during World War II, seems to have had a ponderous influence on this novel. The three main political issues in this novel that I interpreted were Vonneguts beliefs behind theology, technological advancements, and power.
Right off the bat, Vonnegut characterizes religion in a poor fashion. He claims religion is a form of creating lies. In the novel he at first is a Christian but later converts to Bokononism. A Bokononist is described to believe that humanity is organized into teams, that do matinee idols will and the narrator is a firm worshiper of this (Vonnegut 2).



Another belief of a Bokononist is that everything that happens in ones life is meant to happen, and everyone is inevitably doing Gods will without counterbalance knowing or trying to do so. This means no one should spend time doing anything other than living their life. Essentially, in the end of ones life, everything is already determined by fate.
